Bertrand Russell – Interview on Clear Thinking

Bertrand Russell; a noble prize winner in literature (1950) for his humanitarian and freedom of thought writings, could not be more accurate in regards to thought. In this interview he responds to clear thinking by making such an obvious and logical statement. Mr. Russell explains how clarity of the mind and exact thinking is of most importance to mankind. By allowing ourselves to think inexactly or erroneously we become prejudice and biased. It is in this state of unclarity that we begin to make bad choices. Whether these choices are made unconsciously or not, our minds are cloudy.

Bertrand believes that when bad choices are made they are usually done without ones knowing. In my opinion, it would depend on the situation. Many times when people are not thinking clearly it is simply because of a distraction. Stress, anger, schedules, and even love can cause ones mind to get cluttered with so many thoughts. I believe all these factors contribute to the way a person behaves. I feel that one must be able to control their emotions in order to be able to think clearly under any circumstance. Humans must learn how to separate emotion from logic (heart says one thing, mind says another) before we can begin to think as Mr. Russell did….Clearly!
